What do you do when you get burned?

  • Do you use butter or mustard on the burn?
  • Do you use ice?
  • Or do you just leave it alone and hope for the best?

If you answered butter or mustard, you have been listening to those old wives and their tales.  If you answered that you would use ice, well that would be wrong as well. And if you said that you would just leave it alone and hope for the best. I would say that you are 0-3.

Cooling the burn is always a good idea.  Simply running the burned area under cool water is a good start.  Another good thing to do is to apply a quality burn gel to the affected area.  Just because a product is widely available or has a brand name, doesn't necessarily mean it's better for you and your family's needs.
